    Rust a decent PVP game, a horrible Survival game

    I wanted to start a discussion about Rust's genre. Originally classified as a survival game, now it seems far from that. A huge change in community mindset has steered the game away from actual survival and more towards only PVP.

    I have met so many players that want NOTHING to do with the survival aspects of gathering. "I pvp for loot" is way too common; is it really worth it to roam in the snow for 30 minutes just to find one guy who's hit 3 nodes? After this "pvper" has walked past 100 of them? And the sad thing is I'd say 7/8 players have this current mindset.

    A bit of backstory, I bought this game while they were having a silent auction of alpha keys. Played in a web browser until the steam release of legacy, and now play the current rendition. Especially during legacy, the community was so much friendlier, with actual interaction and a focus on, you guessed it, survival. 80% of the server didn't just roam around, but instead everyone participated in all aspects of the game.

    I'm not the best at pvp, probably below average, but I enjoy all the aspects of this game wrapped up. Yes I like to hit nodes, chop trees, loot launch, and at the end of the day pvp when needed.

    So how can this be fixed? I don't know. I really don't even know how we got here in the first place. I took a break for ~ 2 years after legacy ended and found ourselves in the current mindset of the game. Instead of talking, people turn off voices, and literally being toxic to the people playing the survival aspects of the game instead of straight pvp.

    Oh and the hacker/scripter situation, I'm convinced facepunch wants hackers so they keep buying new accounts. I think the game needs a new anti-cheat system, and bring back random recoil so script kiddies can't beam from 200m with a mp5.

    I'm done, at least until something substantial is done about cheaters & hackers. The greatest moments in this game are on max pop servers full of sweaty gamers. Sadly this is exclusively accompanied with cheaters and hackers who can't handle a loss, so resort to the lowest of low. We need justice. Goodbye Rust, the most corrosively addictive community I ever did know

    I don't mind solo , but It's a nightmare for me when I can't figure out where I'm being shot from

    Facepunch servers need serious help.

    They are actually unplayable. East 2 right now has had a minimum of 15 hackers banned today and Idek how many total. They come back on alts almost instantly and continue cheating. I don't understand how the server owned by the developers of the game have the worst cheater protection around. /endrant

    As a solo player, what are some of the best tactics for improving?

    I'm trying to get back into rust and obviously it's a numbers game, the more people you have the better off you are. I'm playing solo on a small solo only server, and am wanting to improve my gameplay since it's been so long since I played seriously. What are some general progression tips? Everyone seems to get guns just hours into wipe when back in my day people had bows for days. What monuments should I be running most of the time, and where are some good places to build a base not to attract attention? I'd rather be completely hidden from everyone if I could be.

    I've recently gotten a new computer and wanted to try and play some Rust on it, unfortunately the game crashes after a couple of minutes. I thought it was something wrong with my computer but everything looks fine. I tried check task manager but still nothing. I decided to ignore it for then and just wanted to play some enlisted at that point and that game also had a problem with crashing. No other game has this issue and I know that both Rust and Enlisted use the same anti-cheat software. does anybody have a fix?

    Edit: my pc restarts when it crashes. I don't know my exact specs but I know it is at least better than my laptop that could run it just fine.
