Seeing how reddit mostly seems to dislike the night cycle, I just had to write my reason why I love the same:

Solo players thrive at night - on a busy server, going out as a solo can be quite risky depending on your destination and road to it. Nights allow you to mask your presence and move out to a monument or recycle with a lower risk of getting killed along the way.
The moon is practically a minigame that can make terrain and timing crucial for cover and stealth. It also diversifies each night so you never know what to expect.
Silhouettes in pitch black can be a dead giveaway, you have to play the terrain to your advantage and remain hidden in crevices. I've sneaked by meters away from fully geared groups plenty of times.
When total darkness falls, a typically trivial threat, wild animals suddenly become quite dangerous, especially if they are stationary so you can't hear them.
Again as a solo player, darkness levels the playing field, allowing you to take on groups unaware of your presence, especially inside monuments or places with otherwise plenty of cover.

Tired of Rust crashing on exit? Try this!

After years of living with the crash on exit problem I finally decided to do something about it since FP won't. For those of you still plagued by this, let's get started.

Open notepad
type: taskkill /IM RustClient.exe /F
File>save as>rustkill.bat (make sure you dont see rustkill.ico.txt If you do, delete the".txt" and save it.
Next time you want to exit rust, alt-tab to desktop and double click it. BOOM, Rust closed! If you're one of the people who suffer from the crash on alt-tab problem in addition to the crash on exit problem.... you're out of luck. Hopefully FP will get their shit together at some point. But for everyone else, you've just created software that exits the game more gracefully than the developers of said game.

Not enough you say? Fine, lets spice it up.

Move the .bat file to documents (or wherever you want, just note the location) Now go to the desktop, right click> new shortcut.

type: explorer "path to .bat"

include the "" So it will look something like explorer "C:\Users\John\Documents\rustkill.bat" Hit next. Give it a name, like RustKill. Right click the shortcut>properties. Click Change Icon and browse to the rust client (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Rust\RustClient.exe) You can also pin this kind of shortcut to the taskbar if you desire that clean desktop look. If you own a streamdeck and want to get creative you could set a button to run the .bat, eliminating the need to alt-tab. Or folder nest it to avoid hitting in on accident mid-game? Get creative.
