Item ownership was a cool feature in principle, prove me wrong...

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:25 PM PDT

The ownership on weapons/armor/tools was a really cool feature from the failed "EXP progression" branch. The "fractional ownership" was crap, and made the system unworkable, chaotic and meaningless.

It could/should be simple, if you looted it or crafted it (or rebranded it), your name should be upon it for life, until rebranded/wiped by a new owner, or lost/despawned.

Only apply the label to tier two/three weapons/armor/tools in the loot table, or those weapons/armor/tools only purchased through bandit/outpost.

Items already have a unique ID, skin type and repair status, it would not be much to make space for a unique label or 'brand' on some chosen few types, some UI readjustment on the item screen (we've already seen 'owned' items before with a simple "Gamername's Item"), and a new abilty/feature for the repair bench, to 'brand' or 'wipe' an item's ownership.

We could make it a community vote/contest to see what items are deserving of 'ownership'.

EDIT: ... i once had "Helk's Doublebarrel" from a staging branch server, from an old school 'cave base' i'd raided, before the item went live ... i wish i'd taken a screen shot, it was cool beans, and simple things like a name on an item really give the game a deeper meta.

Leader tag: A really fun mini-game is to try and pass leader amongst each other without them knowing and try to not have it.

What is the Most Defensive Base Floor Layout?

I created these basic floor layouts in Fortify trying to keep their overall size similar. I haven't played Rust since last year and I'm not too sure what the meta is in the game right now. Of these designs, which would be the most secure?

Also, because helicopters are in Rust now, should the loot room be at the top of a base or in the middle?

Hiding in Bushes - fix pls?

    Posted: 12 Jul 2020 09:03 PM PDT

Hiding in bushes seems to be something that doesn't happen anymore and I've noticed that playing rust with the different detail settings changes the way the look.

The real problem is that when your hiding from someone with a bolt that's a fair distance away, they can see you without any obstructions but you are deep in a bush and barely visible up close. Doesn't make sense?
