    Combat Knife and Underwater Vines

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 12:53 PM PDT

In the QoL Update in April of 2019, Helk introduced the combat knife.

I've added a combat knife to the game. It really kicks ass because you can attack while sprinting with it. The idea was to let people use it to untie underwater crates faster but I ran out of time, next patch.

    Later in the same update...

Underwater crates untie in 8 seconds instead of 15. Yay! Eventually we're going to do something with some visible vines and let players use the combat knife to untie them much quicker but making games is hard.

Unfortunately many patches later this never came to be. I was hoping for this to get some attention and finally be implemented or for the devs to admit defeat.

need help getting better at the game

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 05:07 PM PDT

ok my original post got removed by admins it was really long so im just gonna give the short post of it, raid, check behind for counters, die before i even get a chance to react or see the guy, try again, go out with metal gear set and ak and get killed trying to heal and run around by a guy with a sar and roadsign armor. i practice aim and tracking alot so thats not the problem but what specifically is the problem for people who are more experienced?

If you could add one useful in-game tip to the loading menu in Rust, what would it be?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 09:09 AM PDT

If possible, serious replies (but memes are welcomed too)

I find that the in-game loading screen is such a valuable way to teach players of obscure things.

    Want to improve gamesense

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:09 PM PDT

What's the best way to improve gamesense and situational awareness? I find that my overall gun skill isn't that bad, I have just over 2k hours, but my situational awareness is lacking. Should I just play higher pop servers? Play solo more?

Could you answer a short survey regarding your experience of toxicity in games?

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 11:05 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm Rachel, a research student from the University of York.

I reached out to you all back in February when I was investigating in-game player interactions, and now I'm back with a further study! A big thank you to the mods for giving me approval to post this here.

Responses from the previous survey have been used to create some questions looking into your experiences and thoughts surrounding toxic behaviour. It's another short survey, and should only take around 5 minutes to complete.

You can find the survey at: https://york.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_aVtMjqjAVFlx45T

Once again, if you can answer this survey it would be greatly appreciated. The only requirement to take part is that you are aged 18 or over.

    Thanks!
    Rachel

Taking like 30-50 mins to join a server

    Posted: 28 Sep 2020 07:35 PM PDT

I am new to the game and just keep trying to load in. I managed to join a server once and never again due to loading times. I get onto the actual menu but joining a server can take anywhere from 30-50 minutes if I get lucky and it doesn't crash. It also runs very choppily and unstably.
