    Softcore game mode is great

    I am really enjoying the softcore game mode.

    1. Spawning in compound/bandit is neat, it saves the early game from being a pointless slog through campers. Small but interesting change.

    2. The team limit is great, but I'm sure there will be plenty of "4 teams of 4" in discord together.

    3. Keeping half your loot:

    It is encouraging my team of newer players to be a lot more aggressive. The risk of actually making a play is not so high that almost nothing is worth doing. Also, the ability to head back to the fight and still have ammo/cloth/food makes keeping the pace of protracted fights a lot better and less resource-draining.

    The idea that it's "less risky" is actually bunk, because if you die and they pick up your AK, then your team ends up winning the fight and looting the corpses...there's a 50% chance your AK is in their deposit box. We've lost some important gear this way in fights we have won and it makes decisions much more difficult.

    There's also not the "six-pointer" problem of fighting your neighbors, where if you lose a fight, yes you lost a shotgun and some armor, but your neighbor has now GAINED a shotgun and some armor.

    When you completely wreck someone and it turns out they were kinda struggling, we don't feel like we just made someone give up on the whole server, because they still have something. Nobody on my team is a merciless asshole, we would feel bad if we ruined the game for someone who stood no chance. It's safe to say Rust needs to keep more of those kind of less-psychopathic people around.

    The absolute jerkweeds appear to be very turned off by the server, calling it "so gay" or "lame" in global chat. BYE!

    1. The best thing is it is drawing in players who are a different subset of the Rust community. Not PVE roleplayers, but people who are not on 12 hours a day, haven't put thousands of hours into Rust, and are still getting to live in the time when the game is fun because there's still more to explore and do--it hasn't gotten boring yet.

    It could use a few more features, but the concept is all there. It's BARELY different from regular mode, but it's just a tiny tweak that changes the paradigm of the core gameplay. Really great addition!

    Why does au need a softcore server?

    The softcore mode is a real hit! Since EU now has nine softcore servers along with US having 4 also, AUS has none! New players are forced to go to unstable community servers that provide a faulty softcore experience, which negatively influences their first impression of a great game. With server lag, poor management & crashes no one will be having fun!

    Not having softcore for AU really surprised a lot of people since the highlight of the update has little to no impact on us au players, with almost no vanilla community servers taking it up. I feel it is really needed to break the cycle of new players not getting a proper chance. Which really impacts new players on the AUS servers. This being said at least one official server for softcore should be added.

    I personally believe it is a poor way to manage an influx of new players by making them go to shady community servers opposed to officials, where they will initially intend to go, as stereotypically when learning or playing a new game a player does.

    Holmzy, pull us up a server and I personally guarantee it will have a community of 100+ that will play.
