    I'm trying to get back into rust but my pc is currently horrible I have to play on basically potato settings and always laggy. I was wondering about good pc ideas, like the specs and everything you guys use and still get decent frames and graphics.

    Here are some things I wish I knew when I started playing Rust a week ago.

    After a week of playing Rust and figuring things out for myself, I wanted to make a short list of tips I find that new players could really benefit from. Feel free to add more useful beginners tips in a comment below.

    1. Always collect hemp. When you first start you will quickly find good use for wood and stone, but you may not even notice hemp growing in grassy areas. It's deep green and looks like a weed plant. This will help you make basic cloth armor, a sleeping bag to respawn at a place of your choosing, and a hunting bow.. your first decent weapon. EDIT: don't make cloth armor, read comments below.

    2. Food doesn't have to be a burden. Mushrooms grow in brown areas on the map, and corn and pumpkins sprout near river streams.

    3. When building a base you may have some trouble laying a roof. Everyone else has a flat top roof. That's because when placing the roof to your base you need to switch to "Floor" tile in your building plan and place it above you to achieve the square base style that's most commonly used. This was especially confusing for me to figure out.

    4. Whatever your base is made of, you will need to store that material in the tool cabinet in your base. Your base degrades over time so don't log off for an extended amount of time without making sure you are protected for X amount of time.

    5. Wear headphones when playing Rust (bonus points for surround sound) Rust is a cool game.. you can walk up to anyone and start talking to them and they can talk back. Most of the time they will just kill you though LOL. Make sure you're mic'd up so you can communicate with other people. Hold V key to chat. Surround sound headphones are a game changer. Being able to hear what direction animals and other players are running in will amplify your gameplay.

    6. Stuck? Laying on the ground waiting to die after someone shot you down? Spawn somewhere unfavorable? Hit F1 type kill and hit enter. Instantly kills and respawns you.
