Instead of pushing new stuff into shops, how about giving them dedicated areas on the map?

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 11:05 AM PDT

TL;DR add more crate variants with smaller loot pools, so we won't have to search 200 crates to find a fucking electrical branch, decreasing the necessity of safe zone visits

-"[...]yea, so aside boats and copters, the game got mixing table, CCTV station and a new elevator block added recently."
-"Wow, sounds cool. How do you get hold of them? Loot some dangerous monuments? Trade with other players you can't trust?"
-"Oh we just pop down to a safe zone shop and spend metric shittons of scrap to buy and research them."
-"..ok, and how do you get the scrap?"
-"By AFK farming hemp and selling it."
-"There's that much demand for hemp?!"
-"No, we sell it at the safe zone, too." hemp selling is getting nerfed in October patch thx Helk

Recently, most new content has been either added to a shop, or squeezed into an old loot table. I don't think neither of those are fun from a gameplay perspective:

By looting, you can't work towards a specific item or goal, just rummaging through 3 tiers of garbage in hopes of finding something useful. Don't get me wrong, my problem isn't that there is RNG based loot.

My problem is that it's diluted and global. (with the exception of locked crates, which always provide guns)

This wouldn't be a problem if the game didn't already have very distinct and detailed monuments. But we have. You find the same shit at a gas station, a military airfield and rocket launch site (\in respective crate tiers)).

Facepunch already implemented loot containers with exclusive drops. These all have distinct ways to get them, you know what kind of reward to expect:

    • car part boxes. They can be found along roadside monuments. Chances you find the desired component is much higher than of a regular yellow crate.
    • food crates. Found scattered next to monuments.
    • to an extent, attack chopper and bradley crates. Small drop pool and amount, but valuable.

Hell, assembling a car takes less time than setting up the foundation of electric circuits: battery, switch, root combiner, electric branch and a generator/solar panel take ages to find in boxes.

    My suggestions:

    • electric toolbox: for electrical components. Maybe remove them from other crates? Found along power lines and next to small transformer stations.
    • building/furniture crates: window bars, ladders, hatches, external walls, bed, chair, these sort of things. Found at hangars, garages, rarely the cargo area of truck wreckages.
    • clothing/armor locker: behind puzzle doors, probably. Maybe add lockers as loot containers.
    • high tech briefcase(?): laptop, camera, tech trash, high level electrical components. Found near military tunnels, launch site, airfield, maybe oil rig and cargo ship?
    • abandoned tent: hunting or compound bow, arrows, campfire, some food, tarp, sleeping bag, basic clothes. Found in forests. Kickstart for nakeds.
    • also had this idea for a buried, radioactive stash than you need to find with a Geiger counter minigame, but let's just go with these above.

As of what I mean under diluted, check the first few lines of my post from 2 years ago.

Regarding shops, I wanted to complain about NPC shops being broken and scrap paywalls, but it's already a wall of text, and the fictional dialogue in the beginning reflects my thoughts. I'd gladly stay at safe zones for the interactions: gambling, poker, or maybe just chill around the campfire. Maybe issue a bounty on my neighbours while I'm at it.

Getting into the Halloween spirit with a hell tower (on a pve/p server)

I know I'm not the only one.

H8 for splitters is real, but this uses less power than branches. Solo base defender.

Ummm is spraying down people with assault rifles now normal at long distances???

    Posted: 25 Sep 2020 09:17 PM PDT

So I joined a battlefield server that was just for PvP, I fully expected to run into sweats who are just go go go like they're playing for an eSport championship match. What I didn't expect however, was to get mowed down by rapid fire spraying at long ranges. I'm not sure if they were AK47 shots or LR shots (or whatever the more advanced assault rifle is called) but back when I used to play you could NEVER simply hold down the mouse button and control the recoil so well so that you could easily kill a guy with maybe 10-15 shots fired at these ranged. I'm talking they're near the top of a hill and I'm all the way at the bottom, or on an adjacent hill, far enough so that I think a boot action would be best and that I have the advantage but they just light me up like crazy with their accuracy.

As a newly returning player this is super discouraging to me now, because not only do I have to completely relearn base building and all the tricks that come with it, but as a solo player, or heck even if I was in a squad, I have to now deal with getting mowed down by people with this god like accuracy. Is this what it's like on most servers?

Logging on to 5x servers is like walking into kindergarten, 2x servers like middle school and UKN is like the unemployment office

At least with hemp farming going bust, berries may be worthwhile.

Got really bored after grinding for a couple days straight, gave literally every item in base to these guys who just built their base. They were grateful.
