- Rust has a Balance Problem - Let me explain.
- Nearly always, an Oil Rig Spawns in the low tier part of the map, negating the tiered system. Large compounds in the low tier area within hours of wipe.
- So my m92 glitched in bandit camp to the back of one of the stores. After 1 hour of trying we got it back

Rust has a Balance Problem - Let me explain. Posted: 03 Dec 2020 11:16 PM PST Rust has a balance problem, It would be fine if what we experience with a server wipe was truly randomized , But that's not the case, There are deliberate design intentions that have become bastardized and have turned into the antitheses of their intended purpose: The Tier System became of no consequence with the addition of Vehicles (Particularly of the flying variety) The addition of the Off-Shore monuments like Oil-Rig and Large Oil-Rig and The multiple meta's that are commonplace in Tier-One zones for example - The taking over of entire Tier-One monuments (Gas Station, Lighthouse, Mining Outpost) by large clans. This has become a ten fold issue with the most recent additions of Fishing village and ranch where it's entirely possible to game their safe zones to your own benefit (Safe loot deposit anyone?) (Are you even playing on the right server if you haven't seen a walled in ranch yet) Or what about the new dirt paths between low tier monuments? The very junk pile heavy dirt paths that entire compounds are built around as an easy component farm. There isn't an inch on a new gen map that isn't a POI, Every forest, Desert, Island is between some place and another, Or hell, Has that place inside of it. There used to be big mountain clusters that where filled with little nook and crannies for the lesser chad minded among us to actually have a competitive chance at playing a wipe, But now those locations are non existent, And even if they did come back, They'd still be generated next to a Military Tunnels, Launch Site or Dome. Don't mistake my argument here as being against the new additions, But it's what we are losing when each and every one of them is made...NEGATIVE SPACE! There is no more negative space! You'll see this exact same argument being made by others but in the form of crowded map complaints, Having nothing for a few tiles is something that should be respected! Having those quiet corners, More than a single off-shore island, Large forests to get lost in, Mountain ranges with valleys and rock clusters to maze your way through... The crux of this issue that the developers clearly recognized and tried to address an issue, That of an complex range of play styles that had different wants and needs but would often succumb to the absolute lowest common denominator, The most simplistic play-style that in it's simplicity would be the most powerful and most dominant, Rendering every other style of play impossible. That of the Meta Try-Harding Chad. So they tried to separate us, Place incentives unequally throughout the map generation to make living in a zone non suited to your play-style unappealing and for the Chads, Noncompetitive...Well they failed, The Tier zones where a failure for the reasons listed above and have actually become far more harmful to the previous harmony than if they never existed at all. Living in Tier 1 is now the most advantageous and competitive game-play decision the large clans can make and we're all feeling the brunt of it. Helk Pls. [link] [comments] | ||

Posted: 03 Dec 2020 02:11 PM PST Great update, ngl, best one in a while! Balance is good and appreciated. That said, it doesn't address the glaring issue that is the easily exploitable recoil patterns. I've had many friends cite that issue as a reason to not continue playing the game and honestly, after 2k hours, it's the only thing that keeps me from playing my favourite game. Facepunch, please do away with set recoil patterns and implement something more realistic and amenable to a wider playerbase, not just to cheaters and sweaty tryhards.
