First time really playing rust, played for around 3 days all as a solo. Got my first kill, first raid, first work bench..... But for my first raid it only took 6 satchels for an ak and bolty plus other stuff. Thought I'd share.

Friend thinks he’s better than he is

How do you deal with an irl person on your team who constantly thinks they are better than they are? He takes fights he shouldn't and is way too aggressive. Constantly throwing our loot and blames us for a variety of reasons. How would you deal with this person?

Abillity to frisk another player. (upcoming new emote wheel)

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 11:15 AM PDT

Hey, with the upcoming new update and the addition of the emote wheel . Please add the ability to search ones inventory if he "Surrenders".

I think this would encourage not killing every naked on site, if you would have the option to check his loot without killing him.

    Thanks!

You ever run away from a fight out of pure embarrassment?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 06:25 AM PDT

Was in a fresh wiped server Monday, got a python from a dome crate, also somehow got lucky and got extra pistol ammo from a toolbox, and on the way home to bank I see two bow kids farming trees. Got the jump on them, only like 50m away and somehow whiff a whole clip on the first guy (slowly too, I didn't even try to spray fast and miss, that would have been more understandable), I've literally never whiffed this hard in my life. Knowing I still could have killed them easily, I just turned around and ran away, out of shame, and I didn't want them to get my name and think I was actually that bad ): I blame it being my first gun of wipe, and also I had taken a couple week break before lol, but really it was probably just nerves. Had high ground and amazing open shots on both of them if I was competent.

You have a small map. A lighthouse, fishing village, and oil rigs will spawn. You can pick 2 other monuments (no launch or excavator). What do you pick? Why?

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 04:11 PM PDT

This is something I've been doing on a personal server the last few weeks.
Just curious how people value each monument.

Veteran Solo Rust Player Who Deleted The Game From His Account After 2100 Hours Has a Predicament.

    Posted: 24 Mar 2021 04:10 PM PDT

With 2100 hours, I deleted the game from my account. Apart from the time it takes up, I've found that it strayed from the original hardcore, barebones survival game that I feel it originally wanted to be. My main problems are with the productivity pacing, and with gunplay.

I understand that not a lot of people at all feel the same as me, and I'm not trying to seem butthurt or stuck in the old days, but I've found that slowly, update after update, new additions turned the game from more of a gritty survival combat experience, with guns and armor feeling like extraordinary drops, mostly to an economic farming and combat simulator. To me, weapons and armor don't feel valued like weapons and armor should when they're offered more and more frequently. Remember when zergs would boast about a box full of AK's? Now that's just expected. Remember when being solo, regardless of how good you were, required more of a strategic, thoughtful plan? I don't know about you guys, but even playing solo now seems too easy with outpost and bandit camp, (not to mention the plethora of new monuments) offering to give me everything I need- safety, time, and resources, at the cost of hitting a couple barrels as a naked with nothing to lose but time. I can then build a base wherever I please. It seems so promising that it feels like I'm not playing the Rust I used to know, It feels like I'm not risking an inventory full of valuable items rather than maybe 30 minutes of my time at max.

There was one day when I looked in my inventory, and I realized that I stopped seeing things that were valuable, only things that were rare. Rare and valuable are two completely different things. Value holds subjective worth, I used to die with inventories full of valuable items and I would wonder where I went wrong, and try to improve my playstyle accordingly. I Realized that when I died with an inventory of rare items, I felt more pissed that I wasted 30 minutes of my time, which made me feel less inclined to think that I as a player did something wrong and should improve my playstyle.

Gunplay: That's a whole different scenario. The crosshair of your screen used to gyrate around a fixed radius of a circle, as opposed to staying stuck in the very middle of your screen. Compared to the simplicity of the latter, You actually needed to center your weapon's rear and front sights if you wanted to align a proper shot. This seems like a very minute detail, until you try it out for yourself. Weapons felt like they actually had weight, and that I had to do something on my part to counteract that. When you turned, your gun would turn the direction you turned with you and your crosshair would get sent off-center, forcing you to re-align. Now I can take out an M249 and proceed to hipfire a full mag into a target and hit 66% of shots because I know that instead of my crosshair gyrating around a fixed circle, only the bullets I shoot will. This effectively replaced a players' ability to hit shots on their own accord. Instead it was replaced with a random number generator that artificially makes the shooter inaccurate, just incase they're a little too good at controlling spray. (spray patterns used to be completely randomized, by the way, and there used to be little to no aimcone. bullets would land where the gyrating crosshair was aiming, so tapping accurately would be encouraged, and spraying would be more of a close range last-resort).

Overall, the mix of these two seemingly small yet game-changing features and the deeper synergies and META's they have created repulsed me away from the game that Gotye used to know. I feel that Instead of the game pushing the message that I am in control of my weapon, and therefore where my bullets land, productivity, and positioning, It coddled me into giving me everything I want at the cost of little to no time or skill.

Regardless, I'd like to hear your opinions. I'd like to know if there are some rust veterans who feel the same, and either found a way to push through the changes or who have changed their mindset and play style enough to the point where the game became playable again. I'm stuck in a rut between letting rust stay a fond memory, or finding a way to change myself to stop seeking all the negatives that I perceive the game offers.

    First gun

When I am trying to snowball in a server should I take out my first gun when I get it or save it in base for the perfect opportunity?
