Petetion to make the bandana a craftable item without having a skin for it

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:49 AM PDT

The title says everything, I just don't see the point to why having a skin in order to craft such a standard item is necessary

There should be a "make everyone group leader" option

This would make everyone be able to invite ppl and we can see everyones pings, this would be extremely useful when playing with ppl you know well

A new gun concept for rust.

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 01:22 PM PDT

A new gun concept for rust.

Basically, I thought a new gun would spice up rust a little. Now I know all you gigachads live by the AK, but let me explain.

This is the soviet RPK. it will be similar to the M249, Except it will be craft able. Now, Wait. I know it sounds overpowered, But I have many balance ideas in mind.

1: It will have a slow bullet velocity. if I did not put this idea in here, It would be a roof campers dream. It will have inconsistent bullet drop, making it hard to use at long range, meaning it would take a lot of skill and a lot of luck to be able to successfully roof camp someone.

2: Low durability. The RPK will only be able to fire around 2 magazines before breaking. This would make it different because you would have to manage ammo, and shoot carefully.

3: Magazine capacity. It will have 75 5.56 bullets in one drum magazine. So as I mentioned earlier, it can only fire 2 magazines, so it would only be able to fire 150 rounds before it is broken.

4: Tech tree. It would be rare to find, only being found in oil rig crates, locked crates, and in APC crates. And the tech tree, it would be the most expensive gun to research.

5: Costs (repair and actual recipe costs) Recipe: 3 rifle bodies, 8 springs, 85 High quality metal, and 500 metal fragments. Repair: (assuming the gun is completely broken) 2 springs, 25 High quality metal, 1 rifle body, and 250 metal fragments.

6: Why is this gun unique? This gun would make use of less used ammo types and attachments. For example, High velocity 5.56 ammo would make the gun have less bullet drop. Tap firing would result in more consistent accuracy. And, the gun is overall expensive to make and maintain, but very rewarding.

7: accuracy. The gun would start with a tight spread, then as more bullets are fired, the spread of bullets would gradually increase. If you were to go full auto for all those 75 rounds, the bullet spread at 200m would be 3 metres.

Overall, let me know if you think this is a good idea. Please upvote this post if you want facepunch to acknowledge this, maybe even add it into the game. Leave some feedback if you want too, If you think its overpowered/underpowered/too expensive/too cheap. Anyway hope you guys have had a good day and thanks for reading this post!

Should I overlap building privilege on small footprint bases (solo/duo bases)

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 08:02 PM PDT

Should i just slap on an external TC on my ~20 rocket solo/duo base so that if i get raided, i might be able to recover my base? I'm worried that the extra footprint might make it more of a raid target.

    Shields in Rust?

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 07:08 PM PDT

Are you tired of pesky arrows hitting you in the back? Maybe you're raiding a base and it's surrounded by auto turrets? It could also make melee pvp a little more common.

Varying levels of shields would not only be an interesting turn for the pvp aspect, but could make high velocity arrows and bullets more useful.

    Wooden buckler.

Aesthetic/Design: a small wooden "shield" more resembling an old pot lid. When not equipped this shield will be holstered on your lower back, covering a small portion of your body from behind. While this is cheap it isn't very good, only being able to stop bone arrows and wooden arrows at long ranges. Breaks after taking 150 damage

    Cost: 100 wood + 20 cloth

    Reinforced shield.

Aesthetic/Design: a more proper shield. Resembling a round (picture a Viking shield) this clearly wasn't made while running through the woods. Requiring a level one workbench.

Larger than its predecessor, this shield covers your back entirely except for your head and your lower half. Slightly stronger, being able to stop most arrows.Only being beaten by fire and high velocity arrows. (And bullets of course) Breaks after 350 damage.

Cost: 200 metal frags and 500 wood

    Roadsign shield:

Aesthetic/Design: a unique take of a kite shield style, a wooden shield laden with multiple road signs and pieces of sheet metal. Finally your first bullet proof shield of the wipe. Only defeated by high velocity / incen bullets. Breaks after taking 400 damage

Cost: 5 road signs, 2 sewing kits, 800 wood

I made a little Seed Scanner for rust seed genetics

    Hello guys,

I was bored to enter seeds one by one on genetic seed websites when doing perfect genetics for farmbases, so I coded a quick seed genetics scanner for rust using Python3.

It's not 100% accurate, it can fail to scan some seeds but still very usefull to avoid boring time.

I was wondering if devs can tell me if it's banneable (I hope not ahah) if yes then I'll delete the project and avoid using it.

    Waiting for Facepunch approval

    genScanner in action, ahah

    Have a good rusty day

    ELI5: External TCs

    Posted: 25 Mar 2021 03:34 PM PDT

So it's pretty common in base videos that people will build out ~8 squares, replace the squares with a triangle snake, build a TC, and then attach with metal frame setup. The meta seems to be multi-TC but I'm wondering about this older? base building technique.

    • What's the purpose for the attach/detach mechanic?
    • Why build in squares and replace with triangles?
    • Where is upkeep drained from?
    • Does the order matter?

    Thanks!
