Recoil patterns: Time to move on. Posted: 28 Oct 2020 09:15 PM PDT Everyone knows what I'm talking about already so I'll jump straight to the points I want to make. First off, if you truly spent hours playing modded aimtrain servers to practice your recoil, I am sorry for you. You should've just gotten a script. Most people who shoot accurately use a script. I keep hearing that argument that people should just go to an aimtrain server, but that argument is disingenuous: aimtrain servers aren't part of the base game, they're modded and not supported officially by Facepunch. No one should have to use those. Plus, no game should involve that kind of grinding only to be playable. I understand that diehard professionals who are remunerated for their gameplay may spent hours practicing specific skills for competitions, but that is not the case of the average Rust player, and it shouldn't be. Relevant skills must come naturally from playing the game. If you need to actually practice for hours, then you should spend that time on the piano or playing soccer instead, those are more valuable skills. Additionally, skills should be transferable. Learning Rust's specific recoil patterns is not a worthwhile endeavour in life for anyone, and if you are not paid for it, you should probably uninstall and reconsider your priorities and time allocation. On the other hand, skilled players coming in from CS, Insurgency, CoD, PUBG, Fortnite etc shouldn't feel like trash simply because they don't know specific recoil patterns. That drives them away, makes the game inaccessible, and keeps the player base sadly small. On top of that, recoil patterns quite simply have no basis in reality. No weapon in real life has a recoil pattern, it's always somewhat random, and your warfighting skill comes in your ability to position yourself tactically, engage at the right moment, and shoot on target. Nobody sprays to kill at more than 15-20 meters in real life. Conclusively, considering that, from my observations, just about every fourth person (excluding newbs) uses scripts, I believe it is high time that Facepunch do away with recoil patterns, so as to put an end to the reign of script kiddies. The new system should involve more intense weapon sway - especially when you were running or have been injured -, very small aimcones - though they should make room for wind effects, since they're implementing weather as I write this -, and random recoil. This ought to make every weapon more valuable; one shouldn't be invincible simply because they have an AK in hand. Every gun should be advantageous in certain situations. [link] [comments] | ||
