Sound and Tunnels - Problems with that. Posted: 01 Mar 2021 03:14 PM PST Good day everyone, this post is mainly aimed at the developers and at the community to raise a concern about the new implementation of the tunnels. My group and I were testing the tunnels in general when we thought of trying out the sounds, one teammate was left down with an AK and I was moving around on the surface trying to see if I could hear anything. It turns out that you can hear it like a person was shooting next to you, the radius of the hearable shots was about 1 or 2 grid on the map. The main issue I can see with this new incredible implementation (for real, good work), is that you basically cannot distinguish between the sound on the surface and the sound below in the tunnels, creating doubts for the people that roam or live above. My suggestion would be to give a recognizable spooked sound that can make us tell whether what we are hearing is on our level or not. Stereo headphones cannot properly make the distinction between sounds straight ahead or back, or up and down, therefore also the spacial dimension of the sound does not help the player getting trustful feedback of what he's hearing. Dear Devs, can you address this matter? Did you choose it to be like this or are you planning to change it? [link] [comments]

Stop trying to act like Rust Youtubers. Posted: 01 Mar 2021 09:17 AM PST With force wipe coming up, I would like to take the time to tell people to stop trying to act like Rust Youtubers. Most (not all) Youtubers script content. Spend HOURS doing behind the scenes work to make sure it's as entertaining as possible. Eoka raiding a wooden 2x1 10 minutes into wipe. Trying to "go deep" by door camping everyone is a shitty and slow way progress. If you farm a bit, get a bow and prim pvp you will be a lot better off than trying to make plays that annoy other players with no real pay off. Youtubers are trying to make good content. They hop around to SEVERAL servers trying to get good content. I've dealt with a lot of people door camping my wooden 2x1 trying to go deep when the best think I had was 500 stone. It's not worth it. What happened to placement cost Posted: 01 Mar 2021 08:27 PM PST Before in rust whenever you would place or upgrade something in the bottom right it would show how much it costed. I've noticed it stopped showing, did they remove it and why? [link] [comments]
How to annoy the shit out of your neighbouring clans, featuring helicopters. Posted: 01 Mar 2021 12:23 AM PST Hey guys! Since Rust is mostly about making people sad, angry, and generally discontent, I thought I'd share a way of doing that which I discovered just last wipe. So I think we all know that Scrap helis and minicopters are kinda expensive, especially early into a forced wipe where you might want to save that Scrap for researching. So having one destroyed is usually not something that makes a clan very happy. The good thing is that the means of doing so, namely HV rockets are usually not around till later in the wipe and most people don't really want to waste HV rockets on annoying neighbours. Especially for solos it's not really feasible. Let me present to you: THE FIRE ARROW Requiring 20 Scrap to research and 20 wood, 5 cloth and 10 LGF to craft two, these are fairly cheap, and they are easy to find as well. You can find, research and craft them in the first 15 minutes of a wipe if you really want to. But now I hear you ask: But it takes about 50 of those to kill a wooden door, so it probably takes 400ish to destroy a helicopter, right? Weeeell, nope. Actually it takes 25 fire arrows for a scrap helicopter to go from full health to zero, and 19 for a mini, which is INSANELY cheap! That's about 250 wood, 62.5 cloth and 100LGF to destroy property worth about 500-1000 scrap! Additionally, you can use a compound bow, set up camp inside a bush quite a distance from your future enemy's base and fire away. Since the fire arrows hardly make any noise on impact it usually takes about 10 shots to make a clan realize what's happening, and out of the 17 times I tried last wipe, 16 ended in rapid disassembly of the chopper before they could stop me. 10 of those didn't notice it at all until there was a KaBOOM! outside their base. One clan kicked out the member that had been tasked with repairing the chopper because they thought it exploded because he didn't repair it in time. Have fun with that the upcoming wipes. :-) (Oh how I love to spread joy!) [link] [comments]

Posted: 01 Mar 2021 03:28 PM PST So Obviously the age rating is intense, but I know you can turn off nudity and other peoples mics, and my question is: Is the slurs and the worst of the worst language usually said in this game? (n word etc.). Other then that I think it should be ok to play, (btw I'm in Canada and some friends said if I join a more local server people will be more nice.) [link] [comments]
