    Rust needs "Ultra-Hardcore Servers"

    Posted: 24 Aug 2021 04:47 AM PDT

Okay, hear me out. We need servers like the good old rust:

    - No Safe zones

    - No Shops - Only shop fronts.

    - Removed drone

    - Nerf or completely remove Underwater Labs, Oil Rigs, and tunnels - Lower the chances of getting guns (also bring all fights back inland).

    - Just pure grind, contesting recycling runs, more PVP, etc.

I feel like the biggest problem in rust is the lack of people roaming. I loved how Rust used to be a game about progression. Nowadays every player on the map has a gun. We joined a server and bought Tier 2, SARs (for 130 crude oil), and snowballed further on... Every player has the option to do so now, we need servers that separate players that are better. Bring back the prim-locked era! :D

This is all my own personal opinion! :)

Edit: We're max Trio, we always make a 2 by 2 or a 2 by 1, we aren't afraid of losing guns, we never roofcamp, i see a lot of hate in comments, it was just an idea guys, chill.. :D

I just called in the scientists, they were flying around as they usually do, then they hit the top of the crane and crashed. all the heavy scientists were dead. is that normal to be?

I would love to see permadeath servers in Rust

    Posted: 24 Aug 2021 05:38 PM PDT

It would be really interesting to have permadeath servers where if you get killed, they ban you from the server. Players should be invulnerable while asleep since it would feel cheap to get offlined and just lose it all. It would add a new element of danger to roaming or taking fights, and running big oil would be much riskier. It would also be a nerf to zergs since over the course of the wipe they would lose players and could be chipped away.

Lessons learned by a new Rust player.

    Posted: 24 Aug 2021 09:09 AM PDT

I am Frank, a pretty new Rust player with 400 hours and a lot of passion about this game. In this guide I want to compile important tips and advice for new and advanced players that I haven't seen in most other guides that still massively improved my gameplay in those first 400 hours. Let me get straight into the tips. If you have any tips of your own put them in a comment and I will add them.

    1. Patience, preperation and opportunism are the philosophy behind a good wipe. To make it more clear what I mean by this I will assign one of these keywords to the tips below to give you examples. If you take away nothing else from this guide, put a sign with these 3 keywords in your base for you to read every time before you go on a roam. :D
    2. Base location can make or break your wipe. There are some simple guidelines to help you find a good location. First its helpful to know that traveling one square of the map on foot takes 30 seconds. If you select the location of your base make sure you live no more than 30-60 seconds away from a road and a no-radiation monument where you can farm up a bit and recycle even when you are just naked. I like to live no more than 3 minutes from any of the safezones so I can use any shop on the map via the drone system. I also wanna make sure that there are SEVERAL good monuments within 3 minutes travel time around me. That way when you hear gunshots in one direction you can just go and loot a different monument. Being able to hit barrels and get crates when you need to is probably the most important thing. Hitting monuments is KEY to progression. - Preperation
    3. Being friendly with people pays off huge. Just make sure you draw the border of trust where you start to be vulnurable. For example the fastest way to get a gun and basic tools is to ask a clan if you can farm for them. Just 10 minutes of farming can get you a tier 2 gun and more. They might even pick you up later if they know you already. Try to get on good terms with your neighbors. Maybe you can do some trading and help each other out instead of cockblocking each other the entire wipe. And often at the end of the wipe people will give away their base to you, so you can learn all the blueprints for the next wipe with their scrap. - Preperation
    4. Use Comfort healing. If you stand next to a lit campfire and your comfort meter is 50% and you eat one food item you will heal to 80HP. This will save you sooo many resources in the beginning of the wipe. You can cobine this with a rug/bear rug to get 100% comfort to heal to full. - Preperation
    5. He who strikes first wins. Positioning and Movement are probaly the most important skills in combat. Even more important than aim. If you can get the jump on an enemy or have a good position where you can easily disengage it doesn't matter too much if you miss some shots. One good example is the crossbow. You always wanna fight near cover so you can hide while reloading and don't expose yourself. - Opportunism
    6. Fight with the intention to kill. Be confident in your abilities, the only way to improve is to use them. The only way to make your investment pay off is to put the work in. If you for example wanna get better with the bow you have to fight with it, which in the beginning means losing bows until you bring home more than you lose, in the end making you a profit. - Patience
    7. Better live to fight another day. If you understand how cover works it should be pretty easy to disengage from a fight that isnt going your way. There is no shame in surviving. - Patience
    8. Always run towards gunshots or raids. Even if you are just naked with an Eoka. You might be able to pick up some gearsets or loot and you probably have little to loose. This is how many people find their first gun. Yep its this simple. - Opportunism
    9. Fortune favors the brave. Get yourself out there in general. If you wanna find decayed bases with potential loot or hop into compounds you can only do so by roaming the map and going places. - Opportunism
    10. The Crossbow, Double Barrel Shotgun, SAR and Python Revolver are the best guns early and mid wipe. The crossbow is cheaper than the bow in terms of cloth and if you use cover it is superior for trading shots. The DB can kill any player if you are close enough. The SAR and Python recoil straight up, have great range and do massive damage. They are easy to learn. All the components for these guns can be farmed just by hitting the road, so you should never run out of them and always be able to craft more. - Preperation
    11. Build your game sense. Before I play I like to join an aim training server for 15 minutes or so. Its not much but the time spent there adds up and I will be competent with the guns when I get ahold of them ingame. There are also many good guides on different monuments with loot maps and more. This way I improve my game sense and awareness. - Preperation
    12. Crouching reduces your guns recoil. - Preperation
    13. Have a box in your loot rooms dedicated to extra gearsets. Save your best gearset in case you have to defend an online raid. 2 more in case an opportunity arises that you need to quikcly gear up for. If you have more than 3 gearsets in your base you are hoarding! Go out and use them! Just having them in your base makes the gearsets worthless and you might aswell despawn them. - Preperation
    14. Watch small Streamers. They are often just as skilled as big streamers and their chat isnt cluttered so you can talk to them and learn from them. - Preperation
    15. Keep your loot ordered in different categories with small and large boxes assigned to them: Guns, Gearsets/Armor, Components, Resources, Food & Healing, Dropboxes for random shit, Building/Construction.
    16. Eco Raids are always worth it. Yes, many wood bases have shit loot but eco raids are so cheap that even if you hit several bases and only one has good loot you will still make a profit.

Add a communal feeding troth to Ranches

    Posted: 24 Aug 2021 08:37 AM PDT

Just a reason to make a pit stop to fill up my horses stamina, check out the possible upgrades and maybe buy a horse shoe or two.

Maybe a free - slow feeding, low calorie food just for horses in the troth.

    On death lose random blueprints?

    Posted: 24 Aug 2021 09:42 PM PDT

If you were to randomly lose some blueprints, could that make death more severe? If you lose gun blueprints, that can get the server to go back to primitive fighting if everyone keeps dying. Should there be an incentive in this game to not always engage in fights due to the value of living?
