    Can't believe it is September already. But as promised, we are getting another round of Drops on Twitch! As always, I will always try and amend updates and edits to the end as they occur.

    Usually, there's a couple of content creators that get a skin but are passively earned. It hasn't been made exactly clear to me what Twitch streamers qualify for this, but more often than not - it's usually a YouTuber with no or very little Twitch presence on the platform. Until we get the official breakdown, I'm assuming the following creator will be passively earned:

    "Who should I go after first?"

    • If there's a skin you want in particular, go for that one first! You never know, someone may have a change of events so they could change their streaming schedule entirely. Don't miss out on it.

    "The Twitch app never notifies me when they go live! How am I to know when they're live?"

    • Following their Twitter may help notify you on when they intend to go live.

    "I've been watching for a long time but I haven't received any drops, what do I have to do?"

    "Where can I find what skins are available?"

    "Help! I was busy/away and couldn't watch all the streams!"

    • As /u/showus28 reminded us below, Facepunch is having all drops move to generic in the last 24 hours of the Drop campaign. [Source]

    My personal take:

    Things look pretty tame. It seems like Facepunch heard the community loud and clear after their last selection and we're getting some pretty involved RUST creators. The first three I think I would try to get locked down early on would be Silithur and elxokas as they don't have as much time in the game, and then ricoy23 as there hasn't been much streaming going on in the last month (in comparison to others). But every creator is different, I completely missed the mark last time around - one of the streamers that played this the least prior to the drop streamed RUST the most, I feel like. HA.

    Notes:

    • Data accessed September 1st, 2021.
    • List will be updated September 2nd, 2021 once finalized Drop list is published.
    • Don't get upset if a streamer ends up not streaming the game very much. Life happens. Things get in the way. If the creator is blatantly not going to stream for a good duration of the period, the devs have been known to make things right and put it in with the general drops.

    It was great to have a change and see the news landscapes but looking back at older rust videos the maps looked better. More trees and larger rock formations gave the map a feeling of density that this new system doesn't seem to have. It all looks better on a superficial level but the layout and rock formations are dull. I know this isn't a unpopular opinion but I wish face punch could add more trees in forests and make different types of rock formations. Rivers could use an overhaul as well. i still don't understand why we don't have rivers cutting though large portions of the island.

    How could Facepunch implement a solution to zergs/clans on official?

    Let's be honest, we have all been put in a position where a large group has ruined one of our wipes. I don't enjoy large groups because I personally enjoy grinding through the progression either by myself or with one or two teammates. On the other hand, a lot of people rely on groups to play with and it can help players gain exposure more quickly to many aspects of the game. Nonetheless, many of the official maps are slowly becoming less and less playable by non-clan members.

    I think that the biggest catch here is that the solution cant be something as simple as limiting lock/TC auths, groups size, etc. The amount of moderation that would take to enforce would be insane. Removing clans from the game would change the dynamics too much. There could be more group-limited official servers. (I.e. solo only, duo/trio, max group size 6/8, etc.) But, these would still need to be enforced by moderation and given the cheating/hacker status currently, I don't know if this is plausible.

    I still think it's important to focus on what solutions would bring what benefits? Would this bring though? Would PvP be more balanced? Would grubbing fights decrease due to more people being able to actually join in on the action? Or possibly because there is less T3 loot laying around from the lack of large groups? Would newer players be able to push into more endgame content due to less map control by clans? How would this affect the QoL of the average Rust player?

    While I don't think this is something that needs to be prioritized, I have seen countless posts and suggestions to address the topic and I have never seen any type of response from Facepunch regarding it.

    TL;DR Clans/zergs can make things difficult for smaller groups and less experienced players. Official servers don't have many options for group limits. Would there be any benefit to implementing a change to official servers? How could this be addressed while supporting both sides of the player base?

    There was a server that came out around the EXP system days. That you had to find everything including building materials for a base. You could not farm anything.
