Posted: 07 Jan 2020 05:15 PM PST After over 2 years, I've spent the last month making this: (if the vid-links get poo-poo'd out, please leave the tips because i did this for the community, especially NEW players who struggle and quite because they get raided on day 1 or 2) THIS IS A LABOUR OF LOVE FOR THE RUST COMMUNITY! (PLEASE don't poo-poo on my art... i put my whole heart into this) FROM MY "BEST BASE IN RUST?! What is the most survivable?" VIDEOS:[PART 1] https://youtu.be/AEVAayEUEtw[PART 2] https://youtu.be/nxWLyCTvza0 (It's ONE video in 2 parts) ~~~ I GUARANTEE YOU WILL SURVIVE, WITH LOOT, ALL WIPE, IF YOU FOLLOW ALL OF THESE TACTICS! ~~~ OVERALL STRATEGY:........**USE TINY/STARTER BASES!:3 MAIN TACTICS: - BUILD TINY (LESS THAN 2X2),- BUILD MANY AND SPREAD THEM FAR AND WIDE AS WELL AS FLANKING EACH OTHER,- MAKE THEM A PAIN TO RAID. ← This is easier said than done, hence the detailed videos and the detailed tactics therein! (POSTED BELOW incase reddit desides to remove links) DETAILS: DO'S AND DON'TS (50 SPECIFIC TACTICS) DO's: DO keep making more bases! DO Add features that make the bases look incomplete DO Hide Base where it makes sense for a starter to be Do have flank bags all around your bases -with weapons etc DO Spread all your loot amongst all your bases! DO ANYTHING & EVERYTHING TO MAKE RAIDING YOUR BASES PAINFUL DO HIDE STASH BAGS AROUND YOUR BASES - with and without ur bags DO EVERYTHING IN SECRET AND LIE ABOUT EVERYTHING. DO NOT LET YOUR TCs fill up with too much loot! - esp. not after log off! Do THNK BIG-PICTURE, MAP-wide strategy and tactics! Do take over raided bases! - just remember only use 1-3 squares max! Do hide your bases! - most of this background vid is just build server you would not build out in the open like this! DO take advantage of those rare deep dips or holes in terrain. Do feel free to add a triangle to add a wooden door if your base is tiny DO Be friendly with nearest dominating base! Sell the i am poor narrative DO use a roller door or drop down shotgun trap or window etc Do log off outside your base - except where on purpose to look poor. DO LOCK your tc and every container in your base ! Do watch as many base-build vids as u can and go nuts with shotgun traps! DON'TS! 1 . DON'T use expensive materials (sheet or high quality metal) - unless at end of wipe and on purpose.... Don't place large furnaces or any other items next to your little bases! Don't build in high attention areas - roads, monuments, resource-rich areas, near other bases.. etc etc.... Don't build them too close to each other! also don't use the same design! you will look like a guy doing this strategy or a co-op group! (btw, the examples in this background vid were too close - it was end of wipe and i risked it) Don't plant seeds or park horses, mini copters, your girlfriend outside your bases! No signs of life or prosperity! Horseys...same as 5.... Don't don't bury stash bags under sleeping bags, in small rocks or under small wodden boxes! Don't let anyone see you going in and out of your base or between your bases! Don't leave your loot in your base if someone sus. has seen where you live! Don't let your loot pile up - unless your prepared to lose it all. Don't use one or two bases for all important stuff - spread out furnaces and work benches! Don't use code-locks. (to a raider even a small base can seem stacked if codelocked - this is why we love to raid smally- mediums, especially 2x2s,coz they are often 3-4 busy guys who hoarded tonnes of gear and resources!) Don't leave goodies in a base that an enemy saw you go in!* same as #9 Don't have all your bases in just one area of the whole map - sometimes raider clear out whole quadrants! Don't build in areas known for getting raided! e.g. around launch site... Don't be predictable in any way - keep doing to opposite of what's expected. Don't use only single door frames when you build! use doubles and windows in prep for roller doors and glass! Don't build all conventional ground floor entry bases. Allow for drop down traps!
