SHADOWFRAX has been reporting on Rust for years on end now, with the same amount of quality each time. I feel like he is due for a thanking,

    Electrical items are too expensive

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 05:34 PM PDT

Ye im complaining, but the HQM cost of Electrical components is abit too high and would like to see some swapped out for metal fragments instead. I love wiring all kinds of things to my base, automated lighting, enemy detection systems, traps, smart alarms etc. but the cost of these components is abit absurd, assuming i craft everything i could be looking upwards of 500+ HQM. Which isn't too bad but considering i need HQM for guns, doors, armour and workbenches, it's a difficult choice.

    My suggestion is:

    1. Branches, Switches and Splitters should be Metal frags instead of HQM. These are the bread and butter of a system but are too costly once the circuit starts getting big
    2. CCTV cameras are too rare, the number of targeting computers i seem to get vs CCTV cameras is probably 1:10 and i'd much rather have more CCTV cameras around my base rather than more turrets, especially early into the game
    3. Overall i think everything electrical related should see a reduction in crafting price for HQM, a large battery cost 50 HQM but yet is sometimes more common to find than a gun that cost metal frags and a pipe, it's weirdly disproportional

What are your thoughts? I know some people only know how to build a youtuber honeycomb base and just tryhard till the next wipe but i would like to see the electrical system improve and be more common

    What To Do With Bones?!

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 04:23 PM PDT

Hello. What do you guys use bones for? do you just throw them away? i know a lot of people just despawn them to make room for other stuff but i find them super valuable especially on high pop servers.

i collect bones and use them for bone knives to destroy stuff at little to no cost. if you aren't in a rush, bones can take down a lot of stuff. you can take down anything wooden very easily. some people like to use a bunch of spears, but i prefer bone knives. furnaces/refineries can also be taken down, if you need to move yours and dont want to waste any good tools.

some people say the bone knife is better than hatchet or hatchet better than bone knife but from what i see its the same. even a combat knife is the same, it just does the job quicker and uses basically zero durability to skin something.

ive also tried running around with a bunch of bone knives and throwing them at people, im getting better and it takes only 2 or 3 hits to kill someone. they seem to be stronger thrown than used in melee. they are much harder to retreive than arrows though.

i end up running out of bones because i use them for so much stuff.

I'm currently playing rust and just hit the 8 hour mark... I'm still at bow and I don't have a base

So ready for the meta change with minicopters

    Posted: 29 Jun 2020 06:46 AM PDT

Can't remember the last time I lost a boat counter at oil or cargo. So tired of getting cheesed at the last second when fighting heavies and some kid on a mini rolls up with HEs to wipe an entire group. Or full metal AK 2 hours into wipe to counter on oil rig.

Yes, it can technically still happen, but not early in wipe, and it will be a much bigger commitment.

This adjustment will change the Rust player base a lot. Progress will slow down a lot. People can't login to a server and yeet onto to cargo immediately to get geared. Much needed change. Thanks facepunch. I expect lots of CS:GO loser nerd tears in this thread. LOL

[Suggestion] Add a last connection filter to quickly sort the last servers visited.
